Home Oxygen Tx


  1. PaO2 </= 55 or SaO2 </= 88%
  2. PaO2=56-59 or SaO2 = 89% and

    edema/CHF

    cor pulmonale (eg P wave > 3mm)

    erythrocythemia (Hct>56%)

    and req recertification 61-90days out

  3. Nocturnal desat >/= 5%
  4. Exercise hypoxemia relieved by O2
  5. PaO2>/=60 or SaO2>/=90% and "extensive physician documentation"

Script for O2 requires: flow (l/min) (at rest, with exercise) hours per day duration in mos. documentation of lab evidence diagnosis severe primary lung diseases hypoxia related condition that would improve with O2 (eg PPH, CHF, cor pulmonale, impaired cognition, nocturnal restlessness, am headache)

NOT covered are angina, PVD, SOB
